Our Story
Families living between two homes face a common challenge — the weekly rhythm of packing, transitioning, and starting over. Over time, that rhythm can quietly wear on everyone, especially children.
When Ann's boys were six and nine, she lived that reality firsthand. Every week brought the same ritual — hanging up clothes, gathering school supplies, collecting favorite toys, and then packing it all back up a few days later.
One afternoon her youngest admitted something that stopped her cold. He had been stuffing his bag with anything he could find — not because he needed it, but so it would look full. So he would look ready. So nobody would know he was struggling.
He wasn't packing. He was pretending.
That moment became the inspiration for everything Belonging is today.
Because no child should have to pretend they are okay during a transition. Every child deserves a system that makes them genuinely ready — and genuinely at home — wherever they are.
That need became our purpose. And the Life Locker™ became our answer.

Why Yellow?
Every Life Locker™ carries a signature yellow handle. It's not accidental.
When Belonging was just beginning, it had a different name: Lemonade Luggage. Margret, an early advisor, pushed back on the name — saying it pigeonholed the brand into the luggage category and our vision was bigger. The yellow handle remains as a quiet tribute to that origin — a reminder that even in life's hardest seasons, something meaningful can grow from what feels broken.
That idea has a name in Japan.
Kintsugi, a concept a friend Nikita introduced Ann to, is the ancient art of repairing broken pottery with gold. The cracks aren't hidden or forgotten. They're honored. The philosophy holds that what has been broken and carefully repaired becomes more beautiful — and more valuable — than what was never broken at all.
The gold in those cracks is the same yellow as our handle.
It's the color of resilience. Of healing. Of children who are loved well through difficult things and carry something extraordinary forward because of it.
